The interim government led by Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus is gearing up for a “multi-dimensional” discussion with the United States.
A high-level delegation led by Brent Neiman, Deputy Under Secretary for International Finance at the U.S Department of the Treasury, is coming to Dhaka tomorrow Saturday (Tomorrow).
Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin ahead of the visit said the arrival of the first team of the US is a great reflection of the importance they attach to the relationship with Bangladesh.
He said this indicates that this discussion will be multi-dimensional; it will not be limited to just one topic.
According to Foreign Ministry, Donald Lu, Assistant Secretary Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, will also be visiting Bangladesh.
However, Donald Lu will not come directly from Washington. Lu will visit Delhi and come to Dhaka. He will jointly chair the Washington-Delhi Intercessional Dialogue on Defense in India.
In this meeting, besides the bilateral issues of the United States and India, Bangladesh issues will also be part of the discussion. Washington will send a message to Delhi not to disturb Dhaka.
This information was disclosed through a report published in a national daily on Friday (Sept 13).
During the visit US delegation will meet Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus at state guesthouse Jamuna on Sunday morning, a senior official told media. They will also meet Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain and Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed apart from their other engagement.
