A Dhaka court today placed Safi Muddaser Khan Jyoti, son of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, on a four-day remand in an attempted murder case filed with the Ashulia police station.
 
Senior Judicial Magistrate of Dhaka district Saiful Islam passed the order after accepting a plea from the Investigating Officer (IO) of the case Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ashulia Thana Abu Taher Mia.

On September 11, a private university student Md Rabius Sunny filed the case with Ashulia Thana alleging Jyoti along with other accused of the case for attempting to kill him.

Other notable accused of the case are-- the ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former education minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, former UGC Secretary Dr Ferdous Zaman and UGC members-- Dr Muhammed Alamgir, Dr Biswajit Chanda and Dr Md Sazzad Hossain.

Jyoti was arrested from city's Uttara area around 3:30am today, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ashulia Thana confirmed.
