The body of a Chinese national was recovered at his residence on Road No 16 in Uttara Sector-14 in Dhaka on Thursday evening.
Wang Ho, 38, was found with multiple stab wounds, with police confirming 11 injuries.
According to Md Mahfuzur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Uttara West Police Station, he had likely been murdered 14 to 15 hours before his body was found.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been called in to assist with the investigation.
CCTV footage from the building showed at least two other Chinese nationals entering Wang Ho’s apartment with him. They left shortly afterward, and police suspect they may have already fled the country, said Saddam Hossain, Assistant Police Commissioner of Uttara Zone.
Wang Ho had rented the apartment a month ago and lived there with colleagues, including his Chinese business partner in a stone trade. He had been working in Bangladesh for nine years.
Recently, he traveled to China following his father's death and returned to Bangladesh on February 18. He was killed within two days of his arrival.
