Authorities at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery have introduced an emergency hotline in response to the Bangladesh Air Force training jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara today.
The hotline number is 01949-043697.
A Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed in Uttara of the capital on Monday (July 21).
The aircraft took off at 1:06 pm.
This information was provided through a press release by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to ISPR, the Bangladesh Air Force's F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed in Uttara.
Lima Khanam, duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room said, “We received information at 1:18pm that a training aircraft has crashed near Milestone College in Uttara.”
She said, “Three of our units are currently working at the scene, and two more are on standby nearby. We have no further information at this moment.”
Deputy Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Uttara Division, Mohidul Islam, also confirmed the matter.
“A training aircraft crashed in the Milestone College area. I am on my way to the site to verify details,” he told reporters.
No information has yet been released regarding casualties or the cause of the crash, he added.
Authorities said further updates will be provided once more details are confirmed.
Causalities and Injuries
At least 16 people have been killed and more than 100 including women and children—most of them students—have sustained burn.
The victims were brought to the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery around 2:30 pm on Monday (July21).
