Bangladesh to mourn Tuesday over Uttara training jet tragedy

The government has declared Tuesday (July 22) as a day of national mourning following the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft at the Milestone School and College campus in Dhaka’s Diabari area, which resulted in casualties and injuries.

On this day, the national flag will be flown at half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, and educational establishments across the country. 

The flag will also remain at half-mast at all Bangladeshi missions abroad.

Special prayers will be offered at places of worship across the country for those who lost their lives and those injured in the accident.

Press Wing of the Chief Adviser’s office issued a statement in this regard on Monday (July 21).

The crash occurred around 1:18pm on Monday when a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training jet went down on the Milestone College campus in Uttara. One person has been confirmed dead, and multiple others were injured. Rescue operations and investigations are currently ongoing.
