A Biman Bangladesh Airlines career lost one of its wheels during takeoff from Cox’s Bazar Airport en route to Dhaka, but safely landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with 71 passengers on board.
The incident occurred on Friday (May 16) when BG 436 (Dash 8-400) took off shortly after 1:15 PM.
As the plane became airborne, one of its wheels detached, prompting an emergency alert.
Upon notification, Dhaka Airport’s control room activated emergency response measures, keeping fire services on standby.
Despite the issue, the flight landed safely at 2:17 PM, with passengers unharmed.
Biman’s General Manager (Public Relations) ABM Rawshan Kabir confirmed the matter.
He said that all necessary precautions were taken to ensure a safe landing.
Authorities are investigating the technical malfunction that led to the wheel’s detachment.
