Remittance inflow continues to rise as Bangladesh received $2.24 billion in the first 24 days of May, according to a report released by Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (May 25).
In local currency, the amount stands at Tk 27,627 crore.
According to data, the daily average remittance during this period was $93.59 million. The inflow is higher than the same period of the previous year and also higher than April this year. In comparison, the daily average remittance was $91.74 million in April and $75.16 million in May last year.
Of the total amount, $665.26 million came through state-owned commercial banks and $204.99 million through specialized state-run agricultural banks.
Private commercial banks facilitated the highest share, receiving $1.37 billion, while foreign banks brought in $4.13 million.
Among individual banks, Islami Bank collected the highest remittance at $370.78 million.
