Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus has instructed the Ministry of Home Affairs to complete all preparations for the 13th national election by December this year.
The directive was shared at a press conference held on Wednesday (July 9) at 8:00pm at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.
CA’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam briefed reporters about the instructions.
Shafiqul Alam said the Chief Adviser has clearly directed that all arrangements related to the election must be finalised by December. If reforms and other preparations are completed on time, the election could be held before Ramadan.
To ensure a free and fair vote, the Chief Adviser has ordered that all members of law enforcement agencies complete their training by December.
Officials also discussed whether separate polling booths could be arranged for voters aged between 18 and 32 years.
Additional preparations were outlined by Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder during the briefing.
Further details about the election schedule are expected in the coming months as preparations progress.
