Milestone jet crash: Committee formed to list victims

Milestone School and College has formed a six-member committee to assess casualties from Monday’s tragic Air Force fighter jet crash at its Uttara campus.

The committee, led by Principal Mohammad Ziaul Alam, was formed on Wednesday (July 23) to identify and document the names and addresses of those injured, deceased, or missing. A complete report is expected within three working days.

Members include Vice Principal Md Masud Alam, Head Teacher Khadija Akter, Coordinator Lutfunnesa Lopa, parent representative Moniruzzaman Molla, and two Class XII students—Maruf bin Ziaur Rahman and Md Tasnim Bhuiyan Protik.

The team has been tasked with visiting the crash site, contacting affected families, and verifying all available information to ensure an accurate record.

While the exact number of casualties is still being verified, it is believed that many within the school premises were either killed or injured in the incident. At least 32 people have been confirmed dead so far.

A formal notice regarding the committee has already been circulated via email, and work has commenced.

Sources say the report may also be shared with government authorities and rescue agencies if needed.

The crash, which occurred during school hours, left the nation in mourning. A national day of mourning was observed the following day to honour the victims.
