Even ACC not free from corruption, says Chairman

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Dr Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah has said that the commission itself is not free from corruption.

“ACC is not an institution outside society. The forms of corruption that exist in society also impact us. Corruption exists here as well. That is why it is essential to keep our own system clean,” he said.

He made the remarks on Thursday (July 31) during a views-exchange meeting titled “Corruption- and Harassment-Free Citizen Services and Steps for Service Quality Improvement,” held at the Barishal Circuit House with officials from government and autonomous institutions in attendance.

The ACC chairman said, “Governments come and go. But institutional degradation in our country has reached such a level that it has now become very difficult to manage.”

“If I myself am involved in corruption, can I speak against it? Is it even right to do so? Those who speak against corruption must first earn the moral right to do so,” he added.

Dr Moinuddin called for internal reforms within institutions and a greater sense of personal accountability among officials to improve service delivery and restore public trust.
