The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) pushed 18 people, including women and children, into Bangladesh through different border points early today.
Of them, 14 people — six females, a teenager, three children, and four youths — were pushed through the Dhamirhat Kalupara border around 3am, said Rupan Chakma, patrol commander of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Dhamirhat Kalupara.
The BGB team detained the group after they entered Bangladesh territory. The detainees include Badsha Mia, 20; Imran Gazi, 34; Nazmul Hasan, 24; Suma, 4; Raihan, 4; Nupur, 22; Ashika, 4; Munia, 18; Rakeya, 28; Babu, 17; Priya, 26; Fatema, 7; Babita, 35; and Duli, 40.
Dhamirhat Police Station OC Imam Zafar said legal steps will be taken after the detainees are handed over by the BGB.
Meanwhile, four people — two women and two children — were pushed into Bangladesh through the Bamanpara border under Sapahar Police Station early today. The BGB detained them inside Bangladesh territory.
They were identified as Hena Khatun, 38; Rupali Khatun, 35; Chadni, 8; and Ramjan, 2.
The BGB handed them over to Sapahar Police Station. Officer-in-Charge Abdul Aziz said legal procedures are underway against the detainees.
