The Election Commission of Bangladesh has formally approved the roadmap for the country’s 13th parliamentary election, with an official announcement expected within days.
Election Commissioner Abdur Rahman confirmed the development on Wednesday (August 27), saying, “The Commission has approved the roadmap. It will be made public in a day or two.”
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin has earlier indicated that the vote is likely to take place in the first half of February.
The official election schedule, or tothshil, is expected to be declared approximately two months in advance, likely in early December.
Preparations for the polls are already underway. According to officials, the roadmap will encompass a wide range of activities, including updating the voter list, conducting training programmes, establishing polling centres, forming a panel of polling officers, preparing election manuals, implementing legal reforms, and procuring necessary election materials.
