The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in six divisions, including Dhaka, over the next few days, with the remainder of the country expected to experience lighter showers or mostly dry weather.
According to the bulletin issued Saturday, rain is likely due to the active monsoon trough stretching from Bihar through West Bengal, southern Bangladesh, and into Assam.
The monsoon is currently moderately active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over the northern Bay of Bengal.
Through Sunday morning, moderate to heavy rain accompanied by temporary gusty winds and thundershowers is expected in many parts of Chattogram and Sylhet, as well as scattered areas in Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal.
Light to moderate rain may also occur in isolated parts of Rangpur and Rajshahi.
From Sunday morning to the following 24 hours, rain activity will be more limited, with only a few areas in Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram expected to see light to moderate rain or thundershowers. The rest of the country is likely to remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies.
The outlook for Monday suggests similar conditions, with only isolated showers possible in Chattogram division, while weather elsewhere is expected to stay dry.
