KUSHTIA: A father and his 12-year-old son were killed as a train knocked them down near Poradah railway junction in Mirpur upazila of the district on Friday noon.

The deceased were identified as Badsha, 40, and Hridoy hailed from Simultola village in the upazila.

GRP thana police said a Rajshahi-bound intercity train from Khulna struck them down while passing the rail crossing at Dhappul in the junction area at around 12 noon. They died on the spot.

Later, the bodies were sent to Kushtia General Hospital for autopsy.
