DHAKA: A traffic sergeant in city died at Apollo Hospital sustaining bullet injuries from his own service pistol early Saturday, confirmed airport thana police.

The deceased was identified as Oajed Mahmud, hailed from Habiganj.

Airport thana OC Samsuddin Saleh Chowdhury said that Oajed fired one round bullet at his own head to commit suicide at the ground floor of airport multi-storied parking building at around 5:30 pm on Friday.

Locals rushed him to Apollo Hospital in the city’s Bashundhara residential area in critical condition where doctors declared him dead at 12:45.

He was in charge of Hazrat Sahjalal Traffic Box under Dhaka Metropolitan Police Department (north).

An unnatural death was filed with airport thana in connection with the incident.
