Gunfight kills outlaw leader in Kushtia

KUSHTIA: An outlawed party leader was killed in a gunfight with police at Uthulia Bridge in Khoksa upazila of the district early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Fazlur Rahman, 35, regional leader of outlawed group Gono Mukti Fauz.

Police sources said Acting on a tip-off, a team of police raided Khoksha Utulia Bridge area at around 3:45am in the area while Fazlu and his associates were holding a clandestine meeting there "for committing subversive act".

Sensing their presence, the outlaws opened fire on them forcing them to fire back hat triggered a gunfight, leaving Fazlu dead on the spot.

After half an-hour long gunfight, police found the body of Fazlu as the outlaws retreated.

Meanwhile, police recovered a pistol, a revolver, a pipe gun, two LG and bullets from the scene.

Confirming the matter Khosa Thana Officer-in-Charge Harenranath Sarkar told banglanews, “Fazlu was wanted in the killing case of Chairman Nurul Islam and second-in command of Tikka Bahini.”
