2 died in C’nawabganj clash

CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Two people were killed and 18 others injured in a clash between two groups over establishing supremacy at Narayanpur of Sadar upazila in the district Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Nurul Islam, 45, son of Entaj Ali, hailed from Joulia Sardar Para and Potol, son of late Bagpara of Narayanpur union.

Local people said that in a daylong clash started early Saturday between the supporters of Chairman of Narayanpur union Advocate Alamgir, also Awami League leader and BNP leader Sariatullah Lahu-Humayun.

In the clash, more than 100 cocktails were blasted and 20 persons were injured with three persons critically injured.

On information, police rushed the spot and took the situation under control.

The critically injured Potol died on Saturday night and Nurul Islam on Sunday morning.

Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Thana Bajlur Rashid told banglanews: “We have set up a temporary police camp there in Narayanpur as that a remote area.”
