DHAKA: Democracy International (DI) is providing training to the women aspirants, both reserved and non-reserved seats, for the upcoming national parliamentary elections of Bangladesh.
DI’s International Director of Programs and a former official for Hillary Clinton’s US Presidential Campaign Jed Ober began to provide training to nearly 150 women Monday.
Ober will be conducting intensive workshops on political campaigns in Dhaka (23-24 September), Khulna (26 September), Chittagong (28 September), and in Bogra (30 September).
The training is part of Democracy International’s Narir Joye Shobar Joy (When Women Win, We All Win), launched in 2012 as part of the Democratic Participation and Reform program (DPR) funded jointly by USAID and UKaid.
In this regard, Ober said, “Democracy International is delighted to be assisting so many committed and courageous women who are working for a brighter future for Bangladesh.”
He added: “Narir Joye Shobar Joy is proving that, with political will from the parties and encouragement from civil society, women can continue to have an impact on Bangladeshi political life.”
