Transport strike underway in 2 dists

DHAKA: Passengers’ sufferings mounted as transport workers went on strike on all routes of Satkhira and Meherpur-Kushtia road from Tuesday morning.

Our Satkhira correspondent reports: Satkhira Bus-Minibus Labor Union called the strike protesting the hartal violence and demanding banning of shallow engine run human hauler from highways.

The Chairman of the organization Rabiul Islam confirmed about the strike to banglanews.

However Satkhira Police Super (SP) Molla Jahangir Hossain said that they are trying to talk with the transport leaders to get over the situation.

Our Meherpur Correspondent reports: Meherpur Transport Workers Union started a strike demanding punishment of the culprits who beat up a bus driver.

The agitating workers put barricade by parking the buses on Meherpur-Kushtia road to and fro that caused immense sufferings of the passengers of the areas.

Meherpur Motor Labor Union Chairman Ahsan Habib said, “The strike will be continued until their demands are met.”

Bamundi Police Outpost Sub-Inspector Samsur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
