Workers-cop clash hurt 15 in N’ganj

NARAYANGANJ: At least 15 people were injured, six by bullet, in a clash between readymade garments and police on Dhaka-Narayanganj link road of the district on Wednesday morning.

Sources said hundreds of workers from RMG factories in Fatullah Katherpul, Pitalipul, Ramarbag, Kutub ail area took to the roads at around 9:30am demanding wage hike to minimum Tk8, 000 per month.

Meanwhile, the agitating workers blocked Dhaka-Narayanganj link road and vandalized six to seven vehicles.

On information, police rushed to the spot and charged baton, fired tear shells and rubber bullets to disperse the workers that triggered a clash between the groups, leaving 15 injured, six by bullet.

Confirming the matter Fatullah Model police station Officer-in-Charge Aktar Hossain told banglanews that the situation is now under control.
