Students ransack Dhaka polytechnic

DHAKA: The students of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute staged protest demo by blocking roads and ransacking building on Saturday morning to press home their 2-point demands.

The agitating students blockaded at Satrastar Matha intersection in city Tejgaon industrial area that halted vehicular movement from 9.00am to 11:00am.

On information, police rushed in and brought the under control and then they formed a human chain in front of their campus.

Later, they again took to the street at around 12:30pm. Police dispersed the students by using water cannon.

The blockade created long traffic jam on Mohakhali-Moghbazar road.

The two points demand are implementation of Prime Minister’s directives in reduction of salary discrimination of diploma engineers and two inter-ministry committee’s recommendation.

Bangladesh Polytechnic Shikkhak Samity President Idris Ali said that tougher programs would be declared if our demands are not met.

Tejgaon Industrial police station Inspector (Investigation) confirmed the matter banglanews.
