DHAKA: Considering sufferings of the patients, Bangladesh Chemist and Druggist Samity (BCDS) leaders decided to curtail four hours from the 16-hour strike on Thursday.
BCDS president Sadekur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews at around in the afternoon.
BCDS called for the strike to press 8-point demands, including opening the sealed stores and release of their owners, publishing the names of medicines and companies which declared illegal, give back of illegally seized medicines and penalty money and the list of seized medicine hand over to the Samity.
The leaders also threatened for tougher programmes at the noon.
Earlier in the morning, BCDS leaders held a meeting with Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) Jahangir Alam Mollik.
BCDS president Sadekur told journalists that the DGDA has confirmed to meet the demands within a week.
On September 28, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in a drive, seized huge medicines and panelized several pharmacies in city’s Midford Hospital area.
