MUNSHIGANJ: A 20-kilometre traffic jam was reported on the busy Dhaka-Chittagong highway that causing immense suffering to hundreds of passengers.
The gridlock started at about 4:30am Friday and continued till banglanews correspondent filing the report.
Local sources said the tailback ensued as truckers put barricade on the highway by parking trucks to and fro over truckers beaten by Meghna toll plaza officials.
Truckers locked into altercation with toll plaza officials over an over-loaded truck. At one stage of altercation, officials beat up five people including truck driver and helper.
Confirming the matter Bhaberchar highway police Sergeant Saiful Islam told banglanews, “Police is trying to bring the situation under control.”
