Wrong injections kill 4-baby

TANGAIL: Four new-born babies were killed in Tangail Sadar Hospital as nurse pushed wrong injections into their bodies on Friday noon.

All babies were of 4 to 20 days old.

As per the prescription of doctor Saiful Islam, Nurse Rita pushed the injections into the bodies of the kids and they died within few minutes.

Nurse Rita said, “Doctor Saiful wrote the prescription on last night. In the morning I pushed the injections and the kids died immediately.”

Wishing anonymity, sources in the hospital said that there was no expiry date on the packets of the injections, taken of hospital store.

Doctor Saiful said: “The cause of the deaths can be known after investigation.”

Junior consultant Jahangir Alam said that proper action would be taken after looking into the incident.

In the meantime, parents and family members of other children, admitted in the hospital, left the hospital with their children.
