SI among 3 cops sued for ‘mugging’

DHAKA: The three policemen who were held for their alleged involvement in robbery in the name of recovering ‘hundi money’ were sued on allegation of mugging.

Businessmen filed the case with Kotwali police station on Saturday night.

Operation Officer Sub-inspector Rafiqul Islam was made the investigation officer of the case.

The detained police men are SI Quiyum, is an officer of plain-dressed team of Cantonment Police Station, Constable Alamgir Hossain and Abul Khayer.

Confirming the matter Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge Harun-or-Rashid told banglanews, “A mugging case was filed in this connection.”

Bangshal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Kuddus Fakir on Saturday said that a three-member team led by Cantonment Thana police SI conducted a drive in a residence of Tanti Bazar area.

When they left the house with a good amount of hundi money, house owner shouted calling dacoit.

Hearing the scream, locals caught them and handed over to Bangshal Thana police.
