The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld a High Court verdict that cleared the way for a lower court to continue the trial of a corruption case filed against BNP leader Mirza Abbas on Tuesday (October 25).
A full bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique dismissed an appeal today filed by Mirza Abbas challenging the HC judgement.
On November 11, 2019, the High Court rejected a petition filed by Mirza Abbas for scrapping the case proceedings.
Md Shafiul Alam, Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case against Mirza Abbas on Aug 16, 2007 with the Ramna Police Station for the possession of assets and hiding information about his wealth.
