BNP Media Cell member Mahamuda Habiba has called for unity and mutual respect among all communities to build a peaceful and inclusive Bangladesh.
"We must build the dream Bangladesh by upholding religious harmony. A beautiful Bangladesh cannot be built by suppressing or leaving anyone behind," she said, adding, “We will stand by each other in both good times and bad.”
Mahamuda Habiba, who serves as the Joint Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Krishak Dal, is also a member of the BNP Central Training Committee and the Rajshahi District BNP Convening Committee.
She made the remarks on Thursday (October 23) while attending the concluding day of the traditional Haribasar festival — one of the major annual religious celebrations of the Hindu community — as the chief guest at Jagdishpur village in Shilmaria Union, under Puthia upazila of Rajshahi district.
Several senior BNP and allied leaders were also present at the event, including Puthia Upazila BNP Senior Joint Convener Abu Hayat Mohammad Asaduzzaman, Durgapur Upazila Krishak Dal Convener Abdul Hannan, Bangladesh Puja Celebration Front Member Secretary and Rajshahi District Krishak Dal Member Mrinal Kumar Goswami, Puthia Convening Committee Members Md Sohel Siraji and Prashanta Kumar Sarker, Durgapur Upazila Puja Celebration Front President Prashanta Kumar Sarker, Shilmaria Union Swechchhasebak Dal Senior Joint Convener Md Milon Uddin, Joint Convener Md Alamin, Shilmaria Union Sramik Dal Senior Vice President Md A. Hai Akand, and former Acting President of Shilmaria Union Jubo Dal Md Rezaul Karim, along with other BNP and associate organization leaders.
According to the organizers, more than 30,000 Hindu devotees—men and women—participated in this year’s Haribasar. The daylong event concluded with prayers, chanting, and the distribution of prasad in an atmosphere of communal harmony and celebration.
