Benzir Ahmed has been made the president of Dhaka district unit of Awami League while Poniruzzaman Torun the general secretary.

AL general secretary Obaidul Quader announced their names during the triennial council of the party’s Dhaka district unit on Saturday.

Thousands of Awami League followers, activists and leaders of Dhaka and adjacent areas started gathering at Dhaka’s Sher-E-Bangla Nagar old trade fair ground to join the event at 12 pm. It was full to the brim within 2 pm.

The event ground took a festive look with Awami League leaders and activists wearing colourful T-shirts.

Many said they were enjoying the festive atmosphere and arrangement.

Bangladesh Awami League Presidium Member Advocate Kamrul Islam inaugurated the council while the general secretary of the party Obaidul Quader was present as the chief guest.
