A Dhaka court today (Nov 8) dismissed the case filed against Banani Police Station OC Nure Azam and 15 others over the attack on BNP leader Tabith Awal in September this year.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court Judge Md Asaduzzaman dismissed the case after finding no 'valid reason' to take the case into cognizance.
Additional public prosecutor Taposh Kumar Pal confirmed the matter.
On Monday (Nov 7) Tabith Awal, BNP executive committee member and former DNCC mayoral candidate, filed the case against the accused following an attack on a programme.
In the complaint, Tabith Awal mentioned that on September 17, BNP men took part in a programme organised by Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP, on the footpath of Kamal Ataturk Avenue in Banani.
At that time, more than 200-300 leaders and activists of Awami League, Chhatra League and Jubo League were marching on the other side of the road.
Suddenly, they attacked Tabith and others when their programme was almost in the final stage. Tabith and some other party leaders and workers were injured in the incident.
