A Dhaka court today (Nov 19) sent two people including the son of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer to jail in a case filed under Anti-Terrorism Act with the capital's Jatrabari Police Station.

The detainees are-- Rafat Sadik Saifullah, son of Jamaat Ameer Dr Md Shafikur Rahman, and Arif Fahim Siddiqui.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tarikul Islam passed the order as police produced them before the court after completion of their one-day remand in the case and pleaded to keep them in jail for the sake of proper investigation.

The defence, however, pleaded for scraping the remand plea and granting them bail, which was opposed by the state.

Earlier on November 17, the court placed them on a one-day remand.

A team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested the duo on November 9 from Sylhet.

According to the police, Rafat is a top leader of banned militant outfit Ansar Al Islam's Sylhet chapter and used to run jihadi activities there for long.
