More than 200 of BNP leaders and activists including BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Party Vice Chairman Amanullah Aman have been arrested from Naya Paltan today (Dec 7).

The Detective Branch of police arrested them from in front of the party office around 5:30 pm.

Earlier in the day, BNP publicity secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and BNP Chairperson's special assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas were arrested by the police.

According to eyewitnesses, a clash broke out around 3 pm when BNP leaders and activists took position outside the party office defying police order to leave the place.

At one stage of the altercation over the issue, police lobbed tear gas shells and charged batons to disperse them.

Motijheel zone DC of DMP Hayatul Islam Khan confirming tha matter said that the venue of BNP's rally has not been fixed yet. But they blocked the road. Despite repeated requests, they did not listen. When a clash broke out.
