BNP to hold Dec 10 mass rally in Nayapaltan: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday (December 8) said that the party will hold its December 10 rally in the capital's Nayapaltan area.

He announced their decision at a press conference at BNP Chairperson's Gulshan office this afternoon.

Earlier in the day, police filed a case against around 2,000 BNP leaders and activists over Wednesday's (Dec 7) clash between the party men and police at Nayapaltan in capital.

The case was filed with Paltan Police Station against 473 named and 1,500 unnamed people.

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie, Amanullah Aman and Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, among others, were made accused in the case.

BNP Secretary General was barred from going to the party's Nayapaltan office on Thursday (Dec 8) morning.

Earlier in the day, BNP Secretary General also went to see Mokbul Hossain's body at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital morgue. 

Mokbul Hossain, the joint convener of Pallabi ward no. 5, was killed in front of Nayapaltan BNP Central Office during yesterday's clash.

Currently, BNP is holding demonstrations across the country for protesting the "police attack" on party leaders and activists in the capital's Nayapaltan area on Wednesday.

On December 7, a youth was killed and many others were injured as the police and activists of the BNP locked in a clash in front of the party central office at Naya Paltan in Dhaka.

More than 300 BNP leaders and activists including BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Party Vice Chairman Amanullah Aman were arrested from Naya Paltan on Wednesday.
