Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) allegedly picked up Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Alamgir and standing committee member Mirza Abbas on Friday (Dec 9) night.

Sayrul Kabir Khan, member of the BNP's Media Cell, said a team of the DB of Police picked them up from their houses at 3:15 am. 

He said that Fakhrul Islam was picked up from his Uttara’s house while another team of the DB police raided the house of Abbas at the same time and picked him up from his Shahjahanpur home in Dhaka.

On December 7, Mokbul Hossain, the joint convener of Pallabi ward no. 5, was killed and many others were injured in front of Nayapaltan BNP Central Office during the clash among the police and activists of the BNP.

Besides, 450 BNP leaders and activists including BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Party Vice Chairman Amanullah Aman were arrested from Naya Paltan on that day.
