A Dhaka court today (Dec 15) rejected the bail petition for the third time of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and standing committee member Mirza Abbas again in a case filed over the Dec 7 clash between law enforcers and BNP men in Dhaka's Nayapaltan area.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain passed the order on Thursday.
Earlier on December 14, Mirza Fakhrul and Mirza Abbas sought bail again in a case filed over the December 7 clash between law enforcers and BNP men in the capital.
On December 13, state counsel said Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Mirza Abbas were given division facilities in jail.
Earlier on that day, Fakhrul's wife Rahat Ara Begum and Abbas's wife Afroza Abbas submitted two separate writ petitions to the High Court, saying their husbands were denied division in jail despite the orders of a lower court.
They said their husbands deserved division facilities in jail under the jail code as they are former lawmakers and ministers.
The HC bench comprising Justice KM Kamrul Kader and Justice Mohammad Ali fixed December 14 for delivering the order in this regard.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Mirza Abbas are now in jail in a case filed over the December 7 clash between police and BNP men in the capital's Nayapaltan area.
