No BNP leaders attend AL council

Three members of BNP's standing committee including Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Nazrul Islam Khan and Abdul Moyeen Khan who were invited to the Awami League's national council have not attended the event.

BNP's media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan said that the three leaders are outside the capital to attend pre-scheduled programmes as a result, it is not known whether any other leader will join or not.

Earlier on December 23, BNP was officially invited with a card to the 22nd National Council of AL, scheduled to be held today.

A delegation headed by AL Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan went to BNP central office at the capital's Nayapaltan on Friday (Dec 23) at noon and invited them to join the council.

Syed Emran Saleh Prince, organising secretary of the party and also acting office secretary, accepted the invitation card on behalf of his party.

The 22nd national council of AL is underway as Prime Minister and the party President Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the event this morning.

The 21st council of the party was held on December 20-21. The budget of the last council was Taka 3.43 crore. The national committee of the party has approved Taka 3.13 crore for this 22nd national council.

On the other hand, BNP is holding mass processions at district and metropolitan levels across the country in a bid to realise the 10-point demand announced on December 10.

Currently, the central leaders of the party are participating in the processions of different districts across the country.
