Jatiya Party candidate Mostafizar Rahman is leading in Rangpur City Corporation elections.

According to information, voting began on Tuesday (Dec 27) at 8:30 am in 229 polling stations. 

Although polling was supposed to end at 4:30 pm, due to slowness in EVMs, polling continued beyond the scheduled time in many centers.

Vote counting is underway. As per the results of 16 centres, Jatiya Party candidate Mostafizar Rahman is ahead by a huge margin than other candidates. He got 12,612 votes.  

Meanwhile, Awami League candidate Advocate Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia got 3,986 votes.

Earlier, after the formation of Rangpur City Corporation on June 28, 2012 with an area of 205.7 square kilometers, elections were held for the first time without party symbols on December 20 of the same year.
