SYLHET: At least two people were killed and 10 others injured in fierce clash between two groups of ruling Awami League at Companyganj upazila of the district on Monday evening.

The deceased were identified as Harmuj Ali and Nurul Amin, supporters of Abdul Ali group.

Sources said the two groups the party locked into the clash over establishing supremacy in the area, leaving Harmuj Ali dead on the spot and 10 others injured.

Besides, fatally injured Nurul Amin died on way to Sylhet Osmanin Medical College Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Companyganj Thana Aminul Islam Sarkar confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Sylhet Police Superintendent Nure Alam Mina told banglanews that the clash took place over their internal clash it was not related with hartal.

The injured were rushed to local hospitals and clinics, said a spot account of the incident.
