Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of Awami League, is set to celebrate its 75th founding anniversary tomorrow (Jan 4).
The largest student organization of the country having glorious heritage of struggle and success, was introduced on January 4 in 1948 under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Since its inception, the organisation has made significant contributions to national events including the Language Movement in 1952, Mass Upsurge in 1969, Liberation War in 1971, and Anti-Autocracy Movement in 1990.
To mark the day, national and party flags will be hoisted at all organisation offices including its central office at 6:30am on Wednesday and tributes will be paid at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi in the capital at 8:00am.
The founding anniversary will also be observed at Dhaka University Curzon Hall at 8:30am.
Distribution of the winter cloths among the destitute will be held at 3:00pm and the founding anniversary rally will be brought out at 2.30pm on January 6.
Besides, BCL has taken year-long elaborated programmes marking the anniversary.
