A rally stage of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) collapsed while Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader was delivering a speech on Friday (Jan 6).

Obaidul Quader, also the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges of Bangladesh was delivering his speech as the chief guest to mark the 75th founding anniversary of BCL at the Aparajeyo Bangla in Dhaka University this afternoon.

BCL president Saddam Hossain presided and general secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan moderated the event. 

Awami League central and BCL former leaders, including some other senior leaders of Awami League were present on the stage. 

The minister said: "Today a stage has collapsed, it is a very normal occurrence. One thing I want to clarify is that the leader is more than the worker. We don't need too many leaders."

However, according to eyewitnesses, no one was injured in the incident.
