Police arrested Imtiaz Ahmed Johny, who filed a case for attacking BNP leader Ishraque Hossain at Old Dhaka while distributing leaflets ahead of the party’s Dhaka divisional mass rally on December 4 last year.
Swechchhasebok Dol leader Johny was arrested on 8:00pm last night from Swamibagh area in the capital.
Jatrabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mofizul Haque confirmed the matter.
Johny was arrested as a suspect in connection with a case for vandalizing the police car and obstructing government work in Golapbagh on December 10 last year.
Earlier on December 4, 2022, Ishraque Hossain allegedly comes under attack by the activists of the Bangladesh Chhatra League near Jagannath University in Old Dhaka when he was distributing leaflets there.
The attack took place in front of Jagannath University at around 12 noon that day.
Ishraque’s car was vandalised and several BNP activists were injured in the BCL attack.
Earlier on January 9, a Dhaka court granted bail to Ishraque Hossain in a sabotage lawsuit filed with Motijheel police station.
Earlier on December 5, 2022, a Dhaka court issued the arrest warrant against former mayoral candidate of Dhaka South City Corporation, Ishraque Hossain in an arson case filed with Motijheel Police Station in November 2020.
