Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and his wife Rahat Ara Begum flew to Singapore for treatment on early Friday (Feb 10) night.
BNP media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter.
Sayrul Kabir said that Mirza Fakhrul and his wife leave Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Singapore on a flight of Thai Airways around 1:30am on Friday.
He also said that Fakhrul would receive treatment at the National University Hospital in Singapore for different health problems.
Earlier on January 15, Mirza Fakhrul was admitted to the capital's Evercare Hospital for a health checkup as he was feeling unwell.
Fakhrul, who was arrested on December 9, 2022 just a day before the BNP’s Dhaka divisional mass rally, walked out of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj on January 9 after the bail order reached the jail authorities.
