As part of their ongoing movement, BNP will form human chains across the country on March 11 to protest the price hike of daily commodities including gas and electricity and to press home their 10-point demands including the resignation of the government.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the fresh programme at a rally in the capital's Uttara on Saturday (March 4).
Today, march programmes were held at 50 areas in Dhaka. Besides, members of the party's standing committee, vice chairman and members of BNP chairperson's advisory council and other leaders participated in the programmes.
On the other hand, BNP central leaders along with members of the party's standing committee led the march at the upazila level in other cities outside Dhaka.
Apart from BNP, Ganatantra Mancha, an alliance of seven political parties, also announced to form human chains in divisional cities across Bangladesh on March 11 to press home their 14-point demand, including the resignation of the Awami League government.
BNP and like-minded parties and alliances started a simultaneous movement in December last year to bring down the government, or at least realise the all-important caretaker or non-party provision ahead of the next election.
