Polls not possible sans JP, claims Ershad

DHAKA: Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ersahd on Thursday claimed that if he did not join the all-party government, election would not be possible.

The former President of the country also claimed that third force would snatch power without his joining the all-party government.

He came up with the assertion while addressing a function at his party office at Banani on Thursday.

In the function, hundreds students of different universities joined at Jatiya Chhatra Samaj, the student wing of Jatiya Party.

The former president said, “If I did not join the all-party government, election would not be held. I have joined the government avoiding clash, violence and killing.”

Indicating the opposition parties, he said, “There are three ways to oust the government. These are election, revolution and coup.”

Ershad also urged opposition to take part in election and stop violence in the name of hartal.

Ershad also said, “I don’t know whether polls would be held peacefully or not as Awami League introduced caretaker system and they canceled it.”
