The Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested 54 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in a raid at Banani Club in the capital.
They were arrested on Sunday (March 19) night while they were holding a meeting at Banani Club.
Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Banani Police Station confirmed the matter on Monday.
The raid was carried out in association with members of the Banani police at 1:00 am last night, he added.
He also claimed that BNP leaders and activists were holding a secret meeting for anti-state activities.
Later, they were taken to the DB office.
Siddique Ahmed, duty officer of Banani police station said that a case has been filed against all 54 BNP men.
