GAZIPUR: The dawn-to-dusk hartal, called by the upazila BNP observed in Kapasia on Tuesday, amid stray incidents of picketing.
The party enforced the general strike protesting the arrest of party’s standing committee member Brigadier General (retd) ASM Hannan Shah.
The upazila BNP called for the hartal on Monday night.
BNP supporters set fire on the roads using straw and woods in the upazila.
On Monday night, Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) picked up former lawmaker Hannan Shah of Kapasia from the Natun Bazar area under Baridhara of the capital.
