A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was shot to death in Rajbari Sadar upazila on Sunday night.

The deceased was Sheikh Sabuj, 29, of Urakanda under Barat union. He was the nephew of Farid Uddin, general secretary of Barat union unit of Awami League.

Another one named Sajib Sheikh, 27, was also injured in the incident. He is currently undergoing treatment at Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital.

Quoting family, Jahidul Islam Zahid, general secretary of Rajbari district unit of BCL, said some miscreants shot Sumon around 10pm on Sunday through window and fled the scene.

He was first taken to Rajbari Sadar Hospital. Later he died at the Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital, Zahid said.

Rajbari police super MN Shakiluzzaman said police visited the spot.

Police are trying to arrest those involved in the shooting, the police official said.
