CHITTAGONG: Opposition BNP Chairperson Adviser Mir M Nasir Uddin was arrested from Chittagong Shah Amanat Airport on Thursday night.

A team of police arrested him from the airport around 9:00pm while he was leaving Chittagong for Dhaka.

Earlier in the day, a case was filed against BNP leaders, including city BNP president Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Mir Nasir, on charge of arson during blockade on Wednesday at the Chatteswari intersection of the port city.

Sub-Inspector of Chakbazar Thana Touhidul Anwar told banglanews that Sub-Inspector Shiben Biswas filed the lawsuit with the thana mentioning 67 names and many other unnamed persons on Thursday.

The accused include central organizing secretary Golam Akbar Khandaker, general secretary of city BNP Dr Shahadat Hossain and city Jamaat Amir ANM Shamsul Islam MP.
