BNP announces 4-day demo from May 19

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today (May 13) announced the phases of programmes across the country from May 19 to press home their 10 point-demand, including the formation of a caretaker government and the release of party leaders and activists.

The party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the fresh programme at a rally held at the party's Nayapaltan headquarters in the capital.

As part of the move, BNP will stage demonstrations in districts and metropolitan cities including Dhaka on 19, 20, 26 and 27 May, said Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

Earlier today, BNP leaders and activists joined the party's rally at Nayapaltan headquarters and its surrounding areas to press home their 10-point demand.

The protest rally began at 2:30pm.

The leader and activist were seen wearing colourful caps, carrying banners and posters, chanting anti-government slogans and demanding the release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Many members of law enforcement agencies were deployed in and around the rally venue.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was present as the chief guest while the rally was presided by BNP leader Amanullah Aman.

Earlier on May 10, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the Senior Joint Secretary General of the BNP, announced this protest rally in Dhaka to press their ten point demand.

These demands include advocating for upcoming parliamentary elections to be conducted under a non-partisan caretaker government, the resignation of the current government, and the dissolution of the parliament.
