BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir held a meeting with US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas. 

Mirza Fakhrul entered the US Embassy around 1:20pm on Tuesday and left around 2:30pm, according to BNP sources.

However, no other BNP leader accompanied Mirza Fakhrul in the meeting.

They discussed the current political situation, next election, and the US visa restrictions on Bangladesh, meeting sources said.

Earlier, Ambassador Haas held a meeting at the residence of Prime Minister's Private Sector Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman in the morning. Apart from Law Minister Anisul Huq, a director general of the Foreign Ministry was present at the meeting, it is learnt.

On Sunday morning, a Jatiya Party delegation led by party chairman Ghulam Mohammad Quader met Ambassador Haas at his Gulshan residence.
