Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami finally got permission to hold a public rally in the capital after a long span of ten years.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Saturday (May 10) granted the party permission to organize their event at the Engineers Institution Auditorium in the capital.
DMP's Joint Commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarkar confirmed the matter.
The party will hold a rally at the Engineers Institution Auditorium in Ramna, Dhaka at 2 PM today protesting the price-hike of commodities, and demanding the release of Jamaat leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and other national leaders and scholars, and the implementation of a caretaker government system.
Earlier, Jamaat had not been granted approval despite seeking permission from the police to carry out their scheduled events, Later, they chose Saturday as the specified date for the gathering.
However, according to DMP sources, certain verbal conditions have been imposed on the Jamaat for conducting this gathering.
